Africa Nature Investors began in response to the limited involvement of African leadership in African conservation. We wanted to catalyse the participation of Africans while attracting capital and expertise from across the continent into the sector, demonstrating that nature and people can benefit from each other. We aim to make Africa’s nature and wildlife a source of pride for Africans and to demonstrate conservation can drive sustainable economic development. Now more than ever, the world depends on Africa’s nature and all that it does for the planet.

WHY NIGERIA?
As the most populated country in Africa, Nigeria needs urgent environmental action to ensure the sustainable use and conservation of its resources. Nigeria is largely uncharted territory for most large environmental organisations, but is one of the most biodiverse countries in the continent. Nigeria has exceptional levels of amphibian, primate, and floral diversity, especially its rainforests along the coast and along the Cameroon volcanic chain of mountains to the east of the country.
